Beatrice McPhail DeVeau
1928-2020
The passing of Beatrice McPhail (Hooper) DeVeau, wife of the late Leo
Alfred DeVeau, formerly of Caithness NB occurred peacefully at the
Lincourt Manor, St. Stephen NB on December 24, 2020. Born in St.
George NB on March 1, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Earl and
Mabel (Schofield) Hooper. A loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister, Beatrice is
survived by one son: Raymond DeVeau of Bonny River NB; three
daughters: Linda Donavan of Pennfield NB, Pauline Dunham (Rick) of St.
George NB and Heather Cooke (Jeff) of Bonny River NB; grandchildren:
Sonny Babineau, Cindy Babineau, Daphne DeVeau, Tyler Acheson, Amanda
Doucette, Jennifer Cooke and Julie Dunham; several great-grandchildren
and great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Annette Dinsmore of St.
Stephen NB; one sister-in-law: Jeanie Hooper of Fredericton NB;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and
husband, Beatrice was predeceased by ten brothers and three
sisters.
In her earlier years, Beatrice once worked for Connors Brothers, but
later found her niche as a homemaker and she loved to devote her life
to her family. A true Christian woman, Beatrice was a longtime, active
member of the Cornerstone Tabernacle in St. George and could often be
found with her Bible in hand reading all of her favourite passages.
Her love and devotion to her family will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Lincourt Manor for their
care and support over the last couple of years. Also, a big thank you
to Johnny and Ada Barry who always went above and beyond to help
Beatrice with anything she needed. Your love and support will always
be remembered with great gratitude.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Cornerstone Tabernacle,
Marsh Lane, St. George NB with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
The service will be held at the church on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev.
Bill Gowan officiating. In Beatrice’s memory, donations to a charity
of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Please keep in mind, during both the visitation and funeral service,
Covid-19 protocols will be in place and a mask will be mandatory to
enter the church.
