Obituary of Barry Watson
Watson, G. Barry (Retired P. Eng) – 85 of Halifax. With appreciation of a life well-lived, the family of George Barry Watson, loving husband to Dellores (Boyd) Watson, grieve his passing which occurred on Tuesday, October 13 at the Halifax Infirmary with his family by his side. Born on April 27, 1935, he was a son of the late George and Kathryn (Paterson) Watson.
Barry was a kind generous man, private, reserved with a gentle, giving spirit. He never wanted attention but was always there to quietly lend a hand just when you needed it most. He was a proud alumni of the University of New Brunswick, a RCAF Officer, a civil engineer whose legacy can be seen every time you cross the bridge and see the wharf at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography, take the ferry to Newfoundland and Labrador, travel along Dunbrack Street or take a curve on his banked road on the Kinston Peninsula. He gave back to the community as a long time Kinsman member and President.
He built a cottage (the Ridge) at Handley’s Point outside Bridgewater. The Ridge was his pride and joy. After moving to Tatamagouche, Barry and Dellores enjoyed travel by motor home throughout North America each winter, as well as spending time with family at the Yellow cottage on the Saint John River. Recently he wintered in Florida and enjoyed the breath taking views at the Shore on Conrad’s beach.
Barry will be dearly missed by his wife of sixty years, Dellores, their children: Duane (Tish), Kathy Watson-Legere, Brian (Natasha) and Peter (Alison McNair), grandchildren: Matthew, Christopher (Nicole), Thomas (Polly), Samantha (Pat), Samuel (Alannah), Madeline, William, Lillee and Cooper, great-grandson Beau, brother-in-law Dr. John Christie (Martina), nephew Ian along with many cousins and members of his extended family.
Besides his parents, Barry was predeceased by his sisters Jane Christie and Judy Watson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J. Albert Walker Funeral Home (2005) Ltd. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, October 17 at 1:00 pm at St. James Anglican Church, 2668 Joseph Howe Drive. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hope for Wildlife or the charity of your choice. For those who wish to send words of comfort, please visit www.walkerfh.com
