Hunter, Barry: It is with great love the family announces the passing of Barry Hunter at his home in Mispec, NB on Sunday December 6, 2020. Born in Saint John, Barry was a son of the late George and Ida (Toner) Hunter. He worked as a Joiner-Cabinet Maker at the Saint John Shipyard for 38 years, a proud member of the Local 840, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed woodworking and woodturning, hunting and fishing (he is recognized in the New Brunswick record book for both deer and moose antlers), and received many prizes for his gardening skills. He will forever be remembered as an extremely kind and thoughtful man who never uttered a harsh word about anyone. Barry will be forever missed by his loving wife Virginia Hunter (Loughery); his sons: Barry Hunter (Liane Spillios) of Edmonton, AB, Blayne Hunter of Saint John, and Blake Hunter (Rachel) of Fredericton; his daughter Dawn Hunter (Al Walker) of Hampton; his brothers: James Hunter (Bev), Wayne Hunter (Lois), Roger Hunter (Susie), and Peter Hunter (Joan); and his sister Edith Duke, all of Mispec; his grandchildren: John, Lucas, Emma, Laurel, Owen, and Linnae; and by his brother-in-law David Loughery (Vaunda Lee). As well as his parents, Barry was predeceased by his brother Herbert Hunter and his brother-in-law Art Duke. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB E2J 2G3 (506-646-2424). Due to the pandemic and health regulations, a private Celebration of Barry’s Life will be held for immediate family only on Thursday December 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Those who are unable to attend are invited to view the service online on the funeral home website. A committal service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. Donations to a charity of your personal choice would be appreciated by the family.
