Obituary of Barbara Elizabeth Haliburton
Barbara “Barbie” Elizabeth Haliburton, 53 of Avonport, passed away suddenly in her home on June 21, 2020, with her beloved dog Obi by her side. She was the daughter of Richard Haliburton of Avonport and the late Lesley (Balcom) Haliburton.
Barbie attended L.E. Shaw Elementary School and graduated from Horton District High School in 1985. Over the years, she continued to further her education as she pursued various interests and career choices. In her youth, Barbie was very athletic, excelling at soccer and ballet. Always artistic, she played piano by ear and was an excellent calligrapher. She was known for including unique drawings and quips in the greeting cards that she sent. Having grown up on a farm, Barbie had a natural affinity for animals of all types. She always had at least one faithful animal companion, and often more.
She is survived by brothers Matt (Lisa) Haliburton, Shelburne; Noel (Lucy) Haliburton, Avonport; niece Claire Haliburton, Ottawa; nephew Liam Haliburton, Ottawa; birth son Joshua Haliburton, Avonport; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private interment at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
