The passing of Barbara Elizabeth Betts of Doaktown, NB, wife of the late William “Billy” Betts, occurred on June 19, 2020 at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home in Boiestown. Born on March 8, 1933 in Boiestown, NB, she was the daughter of the late John and Estella (Spencer) Conroy. Together Billy and Barbara ran the local Save Easy for many years.
Barbara is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Durling (Clifton) of Doaktown; son, Tommy Betts (Terri) of Doaktown; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Joanne, Corey and Erica; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Bleakney (Bob) of Burlington, ON.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Lorraine “Toots” and Queenie; brothers John “Buster”, Reggie, Ryan, and Lloyd.
Visitation will take place at Miramichi Valley Church, Route 8, New Bandon on Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Miramichi Valley Church on Monday, June 22, 2020 at 2 pm with Rev. David Storey officiating and Rev. Cody Betts assisting. Provincially mandated COVID-19 social distancing restrictions will be in place during the visitation and funeral service. Interment will be in Doaktown Baptist Cemetery.
