Death Notice
Aune Helsberg (nee Salmi), age 92, died peacefully on Saturday, December 19.
Born in Finland on January 21, 1928, she came to Canada at the age of seven and spent many years in Toronto, London, and Sudbury, Ontario.
Some of her happiest years were spent at Elbow Lake in Estaire where she and her husband Ray tended to the large vegetable garden – “the ‘back 40’. Aune was a talented seamstress; had a wicked sense of humour and loved to dance.
Aune is predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond, and son, Daniel. She is survived by her children Brian and Joanne, grandchildren Nicole, Brad and Jaime, and great-grandchildren Lucy and Leo.
Thank you to the staff of the Kensington Village LTC in London for caring for Aune these past few years.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in both London and Sudbury.
