Sowden, Arthur Martin “Art”
Peacefully, At Park Lane Terrace, Paris, on Sunday May 10, 2020, formerly of German School Rd, Paris, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of 67 years to the late Elspeth (nee Brown – 2014).
Art, along with Elspeth, was a 30 year volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. He was also a long-time former member of the Paris Lions Club receiving the Melvin Jones Award.
Loved dad to Margie Newstead (Larry), Ernie (Brenda), Lyle (Christa), Erle (April) and Jim (Colleen); cherished grandpa to many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; dear brother in law to Ab Gignac (Helen), Cathy Murphy (Norm) and Dorothy Brown. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Erle and Mary Ellen; a brother Craig Sowden and in-laws; Jack Brown, Harvey Brown, Robert F. Brown, Margaret Gignac and Mary Dicken.
Arrangements entrusted to Wm. Kipp Funeral Home. Cremation followed by Interment Paris Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Many thanks to the staff of Park Lane Nursing Home for the exceptional care they gave to both Art and Elspeth during their stay. Donations to Cancer Society would be appreciated.
