Obituary
On Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Portage District Hospital, Arthur H. (Dar) Alford passed away at the age of 91 years.
Dar was born on November 18, 1928, son of the late Dr. A.A. and Sarah Margaret Alford in Oakville, Manitoba. In 1957 he married Marie Kitchen and resided in Oakville until his passing. He farmed south of Oakville and was a partner in Alford and Dunbar Decorators. He enjoyed hunting, curling, coffee with friends and special times with his grandkids. His family was dear to his heart and he loved having everyone over for supper and games around the dining room table.
Dar was predeceased by his brothers Bob, Pal and Mac and sisters Peg, Edna and Mer.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Marie, daughter Lori (Phil) Carpenter and son Stephen Alford; grandchildren Adam (Chelsea McIvor) Carpenter, Matthew Carpenter, Alix Alford and Ajay Alford; great granddaughters Reese and Nevaeh.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private family service will be held.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Dar’s memory to Sunset Palliative Care, Box 92, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3B2 or St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Box 255, Oakville, MB R0H 0Y0 or a charity of one’s choice.
