“Skipper”
Arthur James Blackwood, also known as Skipper, was born on February 19, 1940, in Sydney, Nova Scotia and passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, January 13, 2020, at the age of 79 years. Arthur worked for 25 years in the coal mines in both Nova Scotia and Canmore, Alberta before they shut down and then worked for 20 years at Lafarge in Exshaw, Alberta. After retirement, Art and Pearl returned back home to Nova Scotia to see the ocean again. In 2017, Art and Pearl returned to Medicine Hat to spend his last few years with their children and grandchildren.
Along with Pearl, his beloved wife of 60 years, Arthur leaves to cherish his memory: children, Joyce, Carol, Ann (Kelly) and Ronnie (Kristal); grandchildren, Barbara, Robin, Clayton, Shane, Jacob and Bo; great-grandchildren, Kadence, Gabriel and Layla as well as his fat dog, Foxy. He is also survived by his brothers, Ross (Bette) MacLean and Eddie (Cindy) MacLean as well as his sister, Lela (Eldred) Fraser all of Nova Scotia.
Arthur’s life will be silently remembered by family and friends without the proceedings of a formal funeral service.
