Arnold was born on November 23, 1930 in Camrose, Alberta. He had four brothers and two sisters. He moved to Calgary in the late 1940’s. In 1951 he married Teresa Schauerte and over the next twelve years they had nine wonderful children.
Arnold was a man of many trades and he did not retire until he was 80 years old.
He achieved Past Faithful Navigator of the 4th degree in the Knights of Columbus of which he was a member for 68 years.
He was an optimist, possessed a great sense of humor and was extremely sociable. Our huge family get-togethers, dinner and cards, or family camping trips gave him great joy. He was always ready and willing to help family and friends with renovations or building projects. If you knew Arnie, you knew he was an avid golfer. He loved the game and his golfing buddies! He was a well respected man and was much loved.
Arnold is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Teresa Axelson, his son Eric Axelson; daughter Sheila Tutty and his sons-in-law David Palko and Bruce Roy. He will be deeply missed by his children, Sonja Axelson; Elaine Palko; Denise (Dave) Shkuratoff; Cheryl Roy; Shane (Sandra) Axelson; Marilyn Axelson and Ann (Steve) Recsky ; his daughter-in-law Judy Axelson and son-in-law Stuart Tutty as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
