Obituary of Anne Dalla Vicenza
Anne passed away peacefully at Lee Manor surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, November 14, 2020. Born in Toronto on June 11, 1920, Anne Dalla Vicenza (née DeMarco) of Owen Sound, was in her 101st year.
Dearly loved wife of the late Peter Dalla Vicenza. Loving mother of Marie Knapp (Robert) of Owen Sound, the late Theresa Dwyer (Deacon Phil) of Sauble Beach and Frances Bagley (Claude) of Toronto. Cherished Grandma of Cherolyn (Marshal), Melanie, Peter (Laura), Douglas (Gina), Elizabeth (Brian), MaryAnne (John), Sam (Astra), Paul (Rachel), Mark (Natasha), Christopher (Katrina), and Great-Grandma of Oliver, Kyle, Russell, Connor, Myles, Hannah, Sarah, Claudia, Julia, Jarrell, Mekhi, Elijah, Tariq, Olivia, Chloe and Aiden Julian. Dear sister of Angela Hughes of Aurora.
Predeceased by her parents Sam and Francesca DeMarco, siblings Toni Worrall (Bill), Nick DeMarco (June), and by her brother-in-law Chris Hughes.
Anne was the thread that bound both sides of our family together. First born daughter of Italian immigrants, what she missed out on in education, she made up for in a lifetime of work, independence and determination. Anne was short, but mighty. She started our family Christmas party tradition with grandchildren and cousins that continues on still. She welcomed a truly diverse extended family – acceptance without question, no matter what. Gardening, using her computer to do the family genealogy, crocheting and sewing were all a big part of Anne’s life. Anne was loved by her husband’s family as much as her own. She was everyone’s favourite Grandma Anne and Auntie Anne. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation for local friends and family only, will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, (519-376-7492), on Tuesday, November 17th, from 6 – 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial for Anne will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 554 15th St. E., Owen Sound, on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 1 p.m., with Father Wojciech Kuzma officiating. Friends are welcome to view the service at 1 p.m. via livestream by selecting the ‘LIVE STREAMING’ menu option at the top right corner of the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca). Due to COVID19 restrictions, all attendees must wear a mask and follow social distancing procedures. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Thornhill, on Thursday, November 19th, by invitation only.
