Anne Gargus 2020

GARGUS, Anne
November 4, 1921 – December 5, 2020
It is with great love and a heavy heart that Sharon announces the peaceful passing of her mother Anne at the age of 99.
Anne was born on a Delph area farm and was the eldest of nine brothers and sisters. Here she met John Gargus. They married in 1941 and relocated to Prince Rupert, B.C. during his army enlistment and raised two wonderful children, Sharon Louise and Johnny Larry. During her long life she lived in Andrew, Vernon B.C. and Edmonton.
Anne was a devoted catholic who regularly attended services throughout her busy life. She will be remembered for her kindness, sharp wit, generosity, strong willed nature and zest for life. She loved entertaining family and friends, and will also be remembered for her love of gardening and curling, not to mention her passion for all sports, both participating and watching, especially her Blue Jays. Anne was a perfectionist who excelled at everything that she did. She created beautiful and intricate Ukrainian Easter eggs and spent thousands of hours cooking, baking knitting, crocheting and creating unique and beautiful crafts. She loved to travel, and John and her spent many summer holidays traveling to Bowser Bills on Vancouver Island, where they loved to go salmon fishing. She also had an opportunity to travel to Hawaii and share a vacation in paradise with her husband John and mother Nancy. Anne suffered heartbreak in 1983 when her beloved John passed away suddenly, and again in 1995 when her son Johnny passed as well. In her later years, Anne was fortunate to marry again to Vernon B.C. native Metro Semeniuk and began spending her winters in Yuma, Arizona where she learned to play golf, shoot pool, and enjoy many outings to the local casino. During this time, she was able to rekindle her passion for music and learned to re-play a mandolin that she enjoyed in her childhood years.
Anne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharon (Ron) Roshko; grandchildren Shelley (Tim) Zapawa and Sean (Edna) Roshko; great-granddaughters Megan and Danielle; sisters Mary and Elsie and her brothers Marshall, Terry, and Bob. Anne was predeceased by her husband’s John Gargus and Metro Semeniuk; son Johnny; parents Leon and Nancy Pysar; brothers John and Mike; and sisters Stephie and Madeline.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. JD Carmichael at St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church – St. Michael, AB with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
A heartfelt thank-you to all the staff in the green pod, second floor at St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre for all their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Anne’s memory to St. Michael’s Long Term Care Centre, 7404-139 Ave.,Edmonton, AB.,T5C 3H7.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Anne Gargus 2020..
