1925 ~ 2020
Anne Provis was born on November 10, 1925. She made it into the 2020’s, yet another
decade, but passed away on January 1st at 94 years of age. She was predeceased
by her husband, Dr. Hugh Provis, 33 years ago and by parents Forbes and Mary
Dilworth and brothers Ted (Chris), Art (Eileen) and Ray (Beth, her dear
surviving sister-in-law.) Life will not be the same for her children: Charmian
(Louis), Heather Rill (Raph), Peter (Trudy) and Michele (Jody.) She dearly
loved her grandkids : Trevor, Raven, Tia, Emily, Isabel, Dominic, Hayden,
Garrett and her great grandkids: Brianna and Beau. Auntie Anne cherished:
Raymond (Marilyn), Marie, Grant (Helen), Dale(Cathy), Blake (Kathy), Brad,
Elaine and Joanne (Mitch).
Mum was a true Manitoban. Born in
Treherne, she lived and worked on the family farm in Rathwell, where she met
and married her Dad’s new doctor, who started making frequent house calls. Her
married life was spent in Charleswood, Winnipeg. After Hugh passed she moved to join family in
Lac du Bonnet for the rest of her life. Mum loved being at home and dedicated
her life to being a wife, Mum and Granny and looking after the pets. It seemed
Mum could do anything. She painted the
exterior of our 2 story house, removed a wall in the dining room and changed
the oil in the cars. She loved gardening, cutting the grass and being outside.
She was involved at church and schools, and drove the kids here, there and
everywhere. Mum loved to make fires – by
the river, in the fireplaces and in her kitchen wood stove. As a young woman
Mum played baseball and curled. She was a great skater and would flood the backyard
to make a rink when we were young. Mum was a dedicated Jets and curling
fan. Mum was a pie baker (special
mention of her lemon meringue) and pancake maker extraordinaire. She loved to do crewel embroidery with her
stitchery group. She threw the best birthday parties and dinners and made
magical Christmases. Mum loved to have a gin and tonic in the summer and she
had a wine everyday up til the last week. Mum would say, “Those were the good
old days.” And now, sadly, they are. Cheers Mum!
Special thanks to the caring staff at
Whitemouth Personal Care Home. A memorial service will be held when all the
loved ones can gather. Flowers are gratefully declined but if you would like to
honour our dear Mum, consider visiting an elderly relative or friend, planting
a perennial in the spring, or just enjoying a drink. She would wish she were
there with you.
