Left to cherish her memory are her children: Dan (Marlene) Hounjet, Mark (Celine) Hounjet, Rick (Michelle) Hounjet, Yvette Bunker, Annette (Tom) Paul; her eight grandchildren: Carrie (Kent) Muench, Michael (Tammy Wilde) Hounjet, Brenda Maksymovitch, Richard (Paulina) Casement, Jazz (Mike)Penner, Johnathon (Sandra) Bunker, Heather Posnikoff, Laura (Shawn) Aseltine; her fifteen great-grandchildren: Noah, Adlai and Kalen Muench, Hayden and Salomon Hounjet, Abbey, Ellie, Maggie and Holly Maksymovitch, Jack Casement, Grayson Posnikoff, Samantha and Lukas Bunker and Graffin and Daisy Aseltine; her sister-in-law Emily (Marc) Gabriel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Anita was predeceased by her husband John Hounjet; parents Waldor and Delima Hoscheit; her brother Clarence (Marge) Hoscheit; sister Rita (Tom) Coleman; as well her son-in-law Edward Bunker.
Mom was born on July 17, 1936 in Fulda, SK. Her family moved to Prud’homme in 1947 where she attended elementary school until they moved to Saskatoon in 1949. There, she attended St. Mary’s School and then Tech and Sion Academy. In 1951 at a dance at St. Mary’s Church she met the love of her life, John. They were married on August 18, 1953. Mom stayed home and took care of their five children while running several successful home based businesses. In addition to raising the five of us Mom and Dad welcomed many foster children into their home throughout the years. In 1975 they moved the family to Meacham where they owned and operated the Meacham General Store. In 1977, the family moved back to Saskatoon where mom started a career working with the Coop until her retirement.
Mom was great crafter. Whether it was preparing for a craft sale or crocheting blankets for her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren she always had a project on the go. Through various charities she volunteered her crafting skills where she donated 100’s of baby booties, blankets and caps to supply neonatal units around the world. She enjoyed relaxing at their cabin on Wakaw Lake making many great memories with friends and family. She loved bingo, not only playing the game but also volunteering her time working at many church bingo charities. Mom and Dad took many bus excursions visiting casinos and country music destinations across Canada and the US meeting new people and having great adventures. To celebrate their 30th Wedding Anniversary, they took their dream trip of an Alaskan Cruise. Though her greatest joys were her 8 grandchildren and her 15 great-grandchildren. For her grandchildren, the cupboards were always filled with the best sugary cereal ever made and if the parents ever questioned it they were met with a wagging finger.
Anyone whose life she touched will always remember her sassy nature and her ready smile. She was and always will be a shining example of what a mom, grandma and great grandma should be.
In 2019 Mom and Dad moved to Diamond House. We are so very grateful for their compassionate care and their considerate and continued support during this time. Her Diamond House family referred to her as mom and we were proud to share her with them because they loved her as much as we do.
