Bruyn, Angeline Sonya
October 19, 1938 – September 15, 2020
Angie was born October 19, 1938 on the family homestead near Blaine Lake. She attended Riverhill and Marcelin School, and completed a Secretarial course. Angie had a passion for travel, and has seen every province in Canada, as well as most States. She took many trips to Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. She even took her Mother and Sister back to Bordyanka Ukraine, the birthplace of her parents. She loved taking cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, Greek Islands, and Panama Canal. One of her highlights was flying on the Inaugural trip of the Concord from Toronto to London. Angie always wrote postcards from her exotic destinations and brought back beautiful gifts for her family. Angie had a beautiful heart and loved animals, especially cats. She always had a special house cat, and made sure that there was a full food bowl on her doorstep to feed the stray cats. In her early days she worked in Whitehorse Yukon, and overseas in Australia. Here in Saskatoon she worked as a Secretary for Touche Ross, and Robertson Stromberg. Her passion was collecting antiques, and when she retired she loved attending antique sales with her friends. She was a long-time member of St. Thomas Wesley Church, and served on many Committees. She loved bowling and dancing at the Legion. Angie is survived by nieces, Elva Trask (Barry) and Trish Schlichemeyer, her great nieces and nephews, and cherished great great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Dan and Dora Bruyn, brothers Peter and Edward Bruyn, sister and brother-in-law Anne and Fred Schlichemeyer, and special nephew Garry Schlichemeyer. Angie will be sadly missed by her friends and family, and neighbourhood cats. Due to Covid restrictions, a Private Funeral was held on September 18, 2020. Angie asked that memorial donations be made to the Saskatoon SPCA (5028 Clarence Ave S, Grasswood, SK S7T 1A7). Arrangements in care of David Schurr – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
