Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Andy Godin announce his sudden passing on Sunday May 10, 2020 at the age of 63. Born June 14, 1956 to Weldon Godin and Theresa Hickey (Chamberlain).
Andy is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Lorraine Godin, children Chandra Van de Vorst (Joel) of Calgary, AB; Derrick Godin (Carly) of Centreville, NB; Joey Carson (Jennifer) of Moncton, NB. He leaves behind his mother Theresa Hickey of Moncton, NB, siblings Lonnie (Myrna), Wayne, Glenda (Gary), Brenda (Clarence), Kim (Sheldon), Jason, brother-in-law Alphie (Darlene), sister-in-law Lynn (Gene); several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. Andy was predeceased by his father, Weldon.
Andy made a positive impact everywhere he went. He had a zest for life, a positive outlook and always saw the best in everyone and everything. He was often referred to as “Uncle Andy” by many in his community. His favourite thing to do was to make people laugh with his many “Andy-isms”. Most people who knew Andy can quote one of his many lines. Andy volunteered to groom snowmobile trails; always taking the initiative to lend a helping hand to anyone in his community. Andy had a love of the outdoors and could often be found at his camp at The Rocky Brook Cluster (his favorite place on earth), fly fishing on the Jacquet River, hunting moose, going for drives on his ATV, catching up on the evening news, or sitting around the campfire making his guests laugh and making sure everyone was having a good time. Andy spent the long winters cheering for the Montreal Habs, snowshoeing and going for his nightly drive through his community. Andy believed in a strong work ethic and spent a 36 year career at the Brunswick Smelter until he retired in 2014. He may have retired, but that did not slow him down. Andy always had a project on the go. Andy lived and breathed for his family. He loved his children and wife to no end. Being there for his children’s wedding days were some of the proudest milestones of his life. Andy and his wife Lorraine were childhood sweethearts and together built a life based on the pillars of family, friendship and laughter. You never saw one without the other.
We take great comfort in knowing that he lived life to the fullest with no regrets. We have endless memories, good times and laughter to remember Andy. The spirit of Andy’s kindness and contagious smile will live on with us forever.
An outdoor celebration of life will be held October 02, 2020 at the St. Marie Goretti Cemetery, Lorne at 11am. and we ask all those attending to maintain social distancing practices. Please note due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be no gathering after the service.
