Andrea passed peacefully on Thursday May 14, 2020 at the Central Newfoundland Regional Heath Centre in Grand Falls/Windsor at the age of 49. Andrea was a devoted daughter to Heber and Patricia Best, loving sister to Stephen (Rick Hibbs) and Mark (Michelle) and an amazing Aunt Yha Yha to her nephews and nieces Jack, Sadie, Jesse, and Jamie. Also missing Andrea deeply is her much loved four-legged companion of 14 years Hershey. Andrea’s family wish to express their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff on Unit 2D of the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre for not only the amazing care they gave Andrea but for also the support and warmth they showed us. As well we are grateful to Dr. Boodhun for his efforts in treating Andrea and for his patience and openness with us. Andrea moved to Grand Falls-Windsor in 2003 to accept a position as an Instructor at the College of The North Atlantic. It was here that she found her passion and calling. We have taken great comfort from the stories we have been told by former students in whose lives she made a difference. This past week we experienced first hand the amazing circle of friends Andrea had in Grand Falls-Windsor. Your heartfelt messages, support, and offers of help and compassion touched us deeply. We take great comfort in knowing that she had such an amazing group of people in her life. When you remember Andrea do so with a laugh and a smile. She would want us to share stories of her adventures and misadventures. Cremation has taken place and a family funeral will be held at All Saints’ Cemetery, CBS. My condolences to Andrea’s parents and immediate family. Like everyone, I am devastated to hear of her passing. If there was a kinder and gentler person than Andrea, I have yet to meet them. We met at UNB while we were both pursuing our graduate degree and spent a lot of time together studying and trying to get through our course loads. I can still hear her laugh every time anyone of us made a joke or said something silly.
The entire UNB MBA alumni community shares in the grief and is now praying for our fellow alumni and her family. We are all a little poorer now. “No man is an island, entire of itself … any man’s death diminishes me”. We are sorry for your loss. Andrea, we will miss you dearly.
