Sadly, Alvin Balanko, full of life and health, passed away suddenly on August 20, 2020 at the age of 81.
Al was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Bonnie. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Peggy and Jody; his cherished granddaughter, Paige; Border Collie, Molly; as well as his wonderful friends, many of whom have been with him for 60 years.
Al was a second generation Alberta boy, born in Smoky Lake. As a young man he was drafted to play with the Edmonton Eskimos but chose to leave his passion to enter the corporate world to provide for his future family. Al was an astute businessman and investor and spent his life looking after friends and relatives. If anyone had a problem, he was the one who would solve it, never asking anything in return. Al was athletic, rugged, hard-working, honest, industrious, trustworthy, responsible, unpretentious, witty and fiercely intelligent. An obituary can’t do this man justice but suffice to say all who knew him know we lost a good one and we pray that he is now reunited with our mom. May God bless his soul.
A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. Let you happy memories carry you through this time of sorrow.
Just know that you took wonderful care of your dad, as his dementia progressed over these last few years. Those days spent with him, and the memories created can provide solace during these sad times.
