Alton Garfield McKinley 19412020

Alton Garfield McKinley
1941-2020
Alton Garfield
McKinley, 78, of Riverview and formerly of
Riverside-Albert passed away unexpectedly at his
son’s home on June 8th, 2020.
Alton was born in Point Wolfe on November 8th,
1941 he was the son of the late Murdock and Martha (Geldart)
McKinley.
He served in the Military for eight years and then worked
several jobs over the years. He worked with Esso,
Ed’s Welding and worked with the Department of Agriculture in
Marshland Maintenance. After his retirement he
worked at Fundy National Park as a Commissionaire.
Alton loved to have fun and lived life to the fullest. He
and his late wife Gerry had a lot of laughs together and enjoyed
socializing with family and friends. They would attend all
the local dances, enjoyed the Fundy Curling Club and would join in and
help out at many community events. He was a great
storyteller, loved to cook and was an avid reader.
He was a Toronto Maple Leafs Fan and loved his time attending Chase
The Ace, which proved lucky for him as he won a couple times.
He was very proud of his children and granddaughters, they were his
world. He felt blessed to have
their support after his beloved Gerry passed in
2011. Alton called his grandchildren, his girls and was
always eager to tell about how they were doing and boasted about all
their accomplishments. He would not want anyone to be sad
but for you to share stories and have a great laugh over his
antics and remember how he would tease and torment. He has
moved on to his eternal home with all those who have gone before
him. He really is only a smile
away.
He will be deeply missed by his cherished children, Carla
Shaw (Brian Fowler) of Carlisle and Chris McKinley
(Kim) of Beaverbrook; his precious granddaughters, Meghan
(Danny) and Mallorie (Zac) both of Hartland and
step-granddaughters, Olivia of Beaverbrook and Alexa
(Ben) of Hampton; sister,
Pearl Mellish (Waymond Kelly) and brother
Willis McKinley (Verna Carter) of Riverview;
sister-in-law,Catherine Nickerson of
Ontario. He will also be sadly missed by many
nieces, nephews and by all his extended family and several
friends.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife,
Geraldine “Gerry” (Rossiter) McKinley; sisters,
Leona Brantnall (Newman), Georgie Dixon (Roy),
Muriel Upham (Vaughn); brothers, Murdock Jr.,
Sterling (Thelma), Gerald “Jake” and half-brother, Hamilton
