Obituary of Allen Martin Barr
ALLEN “AL” MARTIN BARR
January 22, 1932 ~ June 8, 2020
After being hospitalized for the last few months, Allen passed away on June 8, 2020 at the age of 88 years old. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife May, daughters Isla (Barry) Wilcox and Nancy Barr, and grandchildren Taylor (Kristie), Ysanne and Alexis Wilcox. Allen was predeceased by his parents Peter and Grace Barr and his in-laws Neil and Isla Campbell.
Al was born January 22, 1932, in Fort Qu’Appelle and raised on the family farm near Flaxcombe, Saskatchewan. It was there he gained a lifetime love of gardening while working alongside his mother. His early life was full of many adventures. On January 22, 1965 he married Mya Campbell and they settled in Prince Albert in February 1968 to raise their family and make lifelong friends. He loved time spent hosting family and friends. His quick wit and laughter were shared with many. We all cherish these memories.
Al had a passion for reading and highly valued education. Throughout the years he achieved university degrees in agriculture, human justice, and social work. He instilled this passion for learning to his girls and his grandchildren. He was very proud of all of their accomplishments.
Sincere thanks to Dr. M. Halyk, his nurse Colleen, and the Acute Care Team at Parkland Integrated Health Centre in Shellbrook for the excellent care and compassion they showed Allen.
