A resident of Chatham, Allan Whitehead passed away at Riverview Gardens on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the age of 92.
Born in Simcoe, Al was the son of the late Edward and Ethel Whitehead.
Beloved husband of Suzette Arsenault. Predeceased by his first wife Kathleen Whitehead (2001).
Loving father to Debra Brown (Terry) and Susan Cook (Brad).
Proud grandfather to Kyle Brown, Colin Brown, Morgan Brown, Tyler Bulley, Shane Bulley.

He is survived by his beloved dog Benji.
Al graduated from the University of Guelph in Agriculture in 1951. He worked for the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture in the Dairy Division as an Inspector and Auditor. He retired in 1993.
Proud member of Guelph University Alumni and Amateur Ham Radio Association. Member of the Norfolk County Sport Hall of Fame – First O.B.A. champions of the Simcoe Reformer Cubs.
Al loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, sailing and camping. Al was a kind, intelligent, unassuming man. He was very happy on his sailboat in New Liskeard and on his Ham Radios (VE3GNN). He was passionate about history, an avid reader and collector of many books.
He was able to beat cancer twice but in the end it was Alzheimer’s that slowly took everything away. It was in those few moments of clarity and recognition that became so precious and treasured.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Riverview Gardens for their compassionate and supportive care to Al over the last few years, especially the 3 West and 6 West staff.
Donations made in memory of Allan to the Alzheimer Society and Pet and Wildlife Rescue would be appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service will occur at a later date.
