Allan Earl (Buzz) Shields
Allan was born in Edmonton, Alberta and passed away September 2, 2020 in Salmo, BC.
Buzz worked as a saw filer for over 40 years in a variety of towns in BC and Alberta. He was very skilled in his field and valued for his many years of expertise. The last company he worked for was Canfor Forest Products in Radium, BC where he retired from on September 1, 2019.
Buzz’s hobbies included flying RC airplanes, intarsia woodworking and riding motorcycles. He delighted many friends and family with the beautiful intarsia wood creations he made. Buzz rode motorcycles with his friends when he was younger but gave up the hobby for many years until he was in his 60’s. His pride and joy later in life was a Honda Goldwing 1500 that he took for many rides on his own as well as with his wife, Brenda, who accompanied him on her own bike. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association and went to several rallies.
During the year of retirement that he was able to enjoy Buzz refurbished his home in Salmo, BC. He also went for many rides on his Goldwing with his wife and other friends who were also motorcycle enthusiasts.
Buzz is survived by his wife of 26 years, Brenda Shields, and his children; Lana Shields, Darla (Lyle) Middleton, Wade Shields, Arthur Gill, Rob Gill and Rebecca (Russ Farwell) Gustafson. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Blake Middleton, Katie Middleton, Kristen Riddle and his great-grandchildren; Madison, Miley and Lane Middleton. He is also survived by his faithful dog, Missy.
Buzz is predeceased by his mother, Luella Josephine Shields who passed away on January 20, 1999, his father Albert Earl Shields who passed away on November 2, 1988 and his son Rex Gill who passed away on January 23, 2019.
