Obituary of Alexander Gammie
Gammie, Alexander “Sandy”
It is with great sadness and affection to advise you that Sandy has died at the age of 84 years. He was born on September 3, 1936 and passed away suddenly on October 5, 2020. Sandy died Monday morning while out hiking when he suddenly succumbed to a heart attack. The family does find some comfort in the knowledge that, given a choice, this would have been how Sandy would have wanted to leave us. He died on a beautiful day, hiking his favourite section of trail. Sandy had a great affection for hiking, and prior to Covid, would split his time between hiking in Ontario, and hiking in Tennessee. Sandy was a devoted family man, and was married to his wife Joyce for over 62 years. He was always kind, charitable, and loving. He ensured that his family was safe, and was a philanthropist in the Leamington/Kingsville area. He dedicated much time and effort to assisting new Canadians in finding safety and success in our great country. Sandy is survived by his loving wife Joyce; daughters, Jill Gammie, Susan Williams (Ashley); sons, David Gammie (Debbie), and Matthew Gammie (Pnina). Sandy adored his ten grandchildren, Cole, Calvin, Tori, Sydney, Aiden, Sophia, Shannon, Rylan, Alexandra, Tiana and his two great grandchildren, Kacey and Chloe. Predeceased by brother Bill. Dear uncle of Kim and Andrea. At Sandy’s request, there will be know visitation or funeral service at this time. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
