Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Aldean Rae Arnold announces her passing on Thursday, July 9th, 2020 after a lengthy illness.
Predeceased by her husband, Vernon Arnold in 2010, Aldean is lovingly remembered by her children Dean (Angie), Donna (George) Newman, Doug (Tami) and Dan (Lindy). She will be forever carried in the hearts of her 10 grandchildren, Blake (Kennedy) Andrus, Mackenzie, Cade, Tanner, Ashlynn, Amy and Devyn Arnold, Jack, Tim and Mitchell Newman, and 1 great granddaughter, Kynlee Andrus.
Aldean is also survived by her sisters, Marjorie (Don) Karl, Doreen Jurgens, Pearl Wolfe (Dick Murphy), Faye (Floyd) Orcutt and her brothers, Larry Wolfe and John (Val) Wolfe as well as her brother-in-law Keith (Diane) Arnold and sister-in-law Norma (Wally) Janser. She was predeceased by one brother, Robert Wolfe and 2 sister-in-laws, Shirley Wolfe and Carol McIvor. Her passing is also mourned by her dear friend Arnold Bodie and his family, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
Born on May 5, 1944 to Leo Wolfe and Doris Morgan, Aldean was raised with her 7 siblings on a farm south of Foremost, Alberta. She married Vern in 1962 and together they raised their children in Foremost while volunteering tirelessly for the community. Aldean was the Southern Alberta Summer Games athlete co-ordinator for the County of Forty Mile for many years, coached slow-pitch and was a long-time member of the Foremost United Church. She worked for Canada Post for over 25 years, retiring in 2011. She moved to Parkbridge Estates in Lethbridge in 2012.
Mom’s passion was sports. She would try any of them but particularly loved playing slow-pitch with her women’s teams and was a keen track and field competitor, winning many medals in the Summer Games over the years. That competitive spirit was passed down to her children and grandchildren and she spent many happy hours cheering them on in hockey, basketball, softball, and volleyball. Mom was never happier than when she was surrounded by her family or dear friends. She loved people and was well-loved in return.
Her battle with Lupus and Pulmonary Fibrosis was one she fought with courage and dignity. Her family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Charlene Fell and nurse clinician Kirk Mathison for their tireless efforts to give us more time with Mom and also to the Lethbridge Home Care and CBI team for making Mom’s last days as comfortable as possible. As well, we thank her dear friends Bonnie and Joyce, her neighbours at Parkbridge Estates and many others who supported Mom so well over the years.
Please consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in Mom’s name.
A celebration of Aldean’s life will be announced and held at a future date as soon as we can all safely gather together.
