1934-2020
Alan Denis Mills in his 86th year peacefully fell asleep at the Kingston General Hospital on August 22, 2020. Alan, beloved husband for 62 years to Shirley Anne (Sinclair). Alan emigrated in 1966 from England with his wife and two sons Kevin (Cindy) and David (Mary) who will miss him dearly. After emigrating to Canada Alan was employed at Algoma Steel for six weeks. He then came to work at Alcan for 25 years as a plumber. Alan has five grandchildren: David Jr., Veronica, Ryan, Kyla and Jeffrey and three great grandchildren, Andre, Richard, Henry and another on the way.
Dear brother to Don (Shelia) in England and Terry (Diane) in Port Elgin, ON. He was predeceased by his sisters Kathleen (Frank) and Muriel (Roger) and brother Ernie (Norma). He will be missed by his nephews, nieces in England and many friends in the apartment, especially Joyce and Pete.
In his later years he took up water colour painting, which he loved to do for relatives and friends. He was an avid sports fan. He delighted seeing his sons play hockey, then his grandchildren and finally his great grandson. The Montreal Canadians were his favourite team. He loved people and they loved him in return. Alan was also a member of Edith Rankin Memorial United Church.
In keeping with Alan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Alan’s memory may be made to the U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre of SE Ontario at KGH) or to the Edith Rankin Memorial United Church.
