Alan John Pothecary December 29th 2019

Alan John Pothecary, passed away surrounded by family in Vernon Jubilee Hospital on December 29, 2019 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland on February 8, 1944. At nine months of age, he and his mother sailed to Canada to join his father in Oyama, BC. Except for a few short stints in Vancouver and Prince George, Alan lived his life in the Okanagan which he loved. He found his calling in sales starting with Coca-Cola, heavy equipment and finally in vehicles, owning the Vernon Nissan dealership for 13 years before retiring. He loved to travel and was able to see a small part of the world including Hong Kong, Japan, Bermuda, Thailand, Mexico, St.Maarten, culminating in a family trip to Panama through the canal. His biggest passion was always trying to “catch the big one” in Bamfield on Vancouver Island. After retirement, he needed something to fill his days and got involved with the Army Navy and Airforce Veterans Club, where he was President for the past 7 years. He is survived by his wife Bev of 40 years, his two daughters, Meagan Pothecary of Victoria, BC and Erin Pothecary of Fort McMurray, AB, two sisters Deirdre Pothecary of Vancouver, BC, Fiona Warrington (Ron) of Victoria, BC, brother-in-law Randy Dunn (Jerry), sister-in-law Carol Hunt (Stan) both of Vernon, BC, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
