Miller, Agnes Savage (née English)
Passed away peacefully at Hillel Lodge, Ottawa, on Saturday, December 26, 2020, in her 100th year.
She was affectionately known as “Senga” by her husband Philip Ernest Miller who predeceased her in 1997. She was the loving mother of Glenn (Grazyna), David (Collin), Doug, Margaret (Chris Loney) and daughter Sheena. As the proud grandmother of Andrew, Megan, Chad, Austin, Isaac, Joe, Tess and Eric, Agnes will be lovingly remembered, and also by nieces and nephews here in Canada and in Scotland.
She was born March 24, 1921, in the Glen Village in Falkirk, Scotland, where her youngest brother Frank and his wife Mary still reside. During the Second World War Agnes was a nurse in Manchester, England. She became a war bride, marrying Philip Miller, a Canadian RAF LAC in September, 1944, and arrived in Halifax on the S.S. Franconia in 1945. From there she traveled by train to Montreal where she was met by Philip’s family and continued on to Ottawa. In 1960 the family moved from Ottawa to Scarborough, Ontario, and then moved again to Foxboro, Ontario, in 1969.
A private family service and interment will take place at St. James Cemetery, Carleton Place.
