We regret to announce the passing of Adele Mary (Venedam) Jessome, age 95, on Wednesday, April 8,2020, in the Covid 19 Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Pomquet, NS, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Sarah Jane (Benoit) Venedam.
Adele moved to Halifax after attending Mt. St. Bernard, Antigonish. She worked at Pier 21 as a secretary, and later met her husband of 56 years, Charles Lloyd Jessome. They lived in Halifax and then moved to Sydney Mines, where she raised her family.
Adele was a Convenor for the CWL, and an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish.
Our mother was a wonderfully strong and resilient lady, and a fantastic mother to her 5 children. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her daughters Marilyn (Steve ) Toronto, Judy ( Chuck ) North Sydney, Janet ( Fred ) Lunenburg, Susan ( John ) Sydney Mines, and her son Charles ( Dawn ) Sydney. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren Vasilios, Chrisoula, Michael, Shawn, Jazmine, Susanne, Lori, Mark, Lindsay, Sarah, James, Joshua and Christopher. Also 12 great-grandchildren Jessica, Logan, Dayton, Luigi, Andreas, Abby, Colby, Lance, Landon, Maddox, Laudi, Rocco and 2 great-great- grandchildren Grayson and Payton.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, brothers Theodor, Francis and Moses, and sisters Lena, Madeline and Mildred.
Due to Covid 19, a celebration of her life and interment will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Adele’s memory may be made to Covid 19 research at Canadahelps.org
