Aldea Christie 1938-2020

It is with great sadness we the family, announce the death of Aldea (Gionet) Christie, wife of Burman Christie, of Bathurst, NB. She passed away peacefully at Chaleur General Hospital on April 15, 2020, at the age of 81.
Aldea was born in Bas-Caraquet, NB, and was the daughter of the late Alexis and Laura (Jean) Gionet.
Besides her husband, Aldea was very proud of her three children: Brenda Christie (Dave) of Ottawa, ON, Sherry Duguid (Glenn) of Barrie, ON and Danny Christie (Asha), of Bedford, NS. She had four grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley, Zachery and Jordan.
Six sisters and three brothers: Martina, Edith, (George-Emile), Fernand (Nicole), Marie-Ange (Claude), Jean-Claude (Simone), Leo-Paul (Maria), Gisele (Normand), Colette and Aline (Yvon). She also had several nieces and nephews.
Aldea studied at NBCC Campbellton, NB. As a Registered Nursing Assistant, she practiced in Ontario, and worked for a time at Walmart and the Foyer Notre Dame de Lourdes in Bathurst. Aldea loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed all social events and was a member of the Bathurst Multicultural Society.
“The world changes from year to year, our lives from day to day, but the love and memory of you shall never go away”.
There will be no service at this time due to Covid-19. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Aldea may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are in the care of Elhatton’s Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst.
