On April 16, 2020 at Labdara nursing home, Eugenija Gincauskas passed away peacefully at the age of 90. Predeceased by the love of her life, Stasys, in 1992. She leaves behind her daughter, Dr. Gina Gincauskas; son, Edward (Amy); grandchildren, Viktorija, Justinas, and Cicilija; brother, Antanas Bacevicius; sister, Ona Maleckas; and many nieces and nephews.
Eugenija was born in 1929 in a small village near Šakiai, Lithuania. During the second world war, her family fled her homeland, and as a young teenager, she arrived in Australia. There, she met her beloved husband, Stasys and they started a family. Eventually, her journey led her to Canada and she settled in Mississauga. Eugenija worked at the Mississauga hospital for many years as a dietary aide. During her retirement, she spent most of her time enjoying the outdoors, working in her garden in Wasaga Beach.
The funeral will be limited to a small group of immediate family members. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Labdara nursing home, who took wonderful care of her.
