The Funeral Service for Alistair Michael Scott will take place on Saturday, September 12. Eulogy, funeral mass and music will begin at 1pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Shelburne with overflow at Huskilson’s Funeral Home. Due to limited seating at these locations a live audio-video feed will also be available from Huskilson’s Funeral Home Face book page.

Immediately following the Mass, Alistair’s Family invites you to visit and pay respects to Alistair at his gravesite in the St. Thomas Catholic Churchyard.
With social distancing measures in place, all are invited to attend an outdoor reception beginning at approximately 3:00 pm at Alistair’s Home at 1371 Sandy Point Road.

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the very unexpected and tragic death of our dear and beloved Alistair. Happiest among nature, Alistair recognized and was truly thankful for all of its beauty and gifts. Alistair lived large, loved passionately and had a heart of gold.
Alistair believed a man was measured by his spirit and love and in these he was rich. He had a beautiful smile that reflected his most beautiful heart – full of love for his family, his friends, the underdog and all living creatures (both plants and animals). He loved to “spin a yarn” with both new and familiar faces, hearing their stories and discussing topics he was passionate about including his Celtic ancestry, forestry, herbology and family history. Alistair was full of intellectual curiosity, no topic was off limits – he was unafraid to question and took nothing at face value. He truly listened to and learned from the wisdom of others while drawing his own conclusions.
Alistair was a natural craftsman, a skill passed down through the generations. From a very young age he loved to take scrap wood and make something fun or useful out of it. Everywhere he went he had a jackknife in his pocket ready to whittle a new creation out of wood. His skills and creativity grew with him and allowed him to produce some beautiful pieces of furniture.
His love of adventure and passion for learning took him from Shelburne to Kelowna, where he made furniture, Newfoundland where he earned his forest technician diploma and met the love of his life, Whitney Swyers, then on to Prince George BC where he and Whitney worked and pursued further studies in forestry and made many close friends.
Alistair loved to push the boundaries of the explorable world. If you were fortunate enough to join him on an adventure you were left with the impression that there was not a mountain he couldn’t climb nor a living thing he could not speak to. Alistair loved to spend his time doing spontaneous and adventurous feats like hiking mountains, exploring islands or swimming out to an iceberg. He passed away the way he lived, a brave adventurer.
Alistair is survived by his very loving family members; Mother Sharon Marie Carrigan; father, Michael Thomas Scott (Tanya Nickerson); adoring sister Jacqueline Elaine Marshall, and her husband Nathanael and beautiful baby girl niece Felicity Anne Marshall; Grandparents Frank and Vivie Scott; Grandparents Owen and Florence Carrigan; Aunts and Uncles Francie Scott, Jimmy and Susan Scott, Susie and Wes Kendall, Becky Kent, Cindy Scott, Nancy Stabenow, Janet and Dave Woodman, David and Denise Carrigan, Glen Carrigan, Douglas and Lara Carrigan; ; Cousins Brendan, Nathanial and Sarah, Aleksandr, Annicka, Greggor, Tatianna, Alyssa, Kirstin, Brogan, Shannon and Brandon, Ian, Lily, Sadie, Campbell, Thomas, Scott and Chantal, Peter and Brittany, Michael and Lisa, Isaac, Tyler, and Matthew.
Directions have been entrusted to H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Among immediate family members, Christian Burial will take place at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Shelburne Nova Scotia on Monday, April 20 at 11:00 am. A Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Catholic Church will follow at a later date to be announced and will be open to everyone.
From Alistair’s family we extend our sincere and heartfelt thank you to the Coast Guard search and rescue team, the very large team of medical professionals at the Yarmouth Hospital who worked tirelessly to revive him, and the very comforting and loving support from our very loving community.
