QUINES, Rosita
1933 – 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Rosita Capiendo Quines, beloved wife of sixty-four years, of Mr. Leonardo Mendoza Quines of Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the age of 86 years. They remained by each other’s side, as best friends and soulmates until death. Rosita and Leonardo brought their children to Canada in 1971. Their love of Christ and devotion to their family marked a life filled with love and security; a home where the most important message was that faith, love, joy, respect, and laughter are the ingredients for a life worth living. They believed in God and in family. Rosita leaves behind her four children, who miss her so much and who love her, and are so grateful for the love and guidance she provided: Ronard Quines and Dory (nee Napod), Leslie Quines and Rose Marie (nee Connors), Marly Barsh (nee Quines) and Thomas, and Arlyn Quines; her grandchildren, Ritchie Quines, Michael Quines, Christopher Quines, Catherine Salomons (nee Quines), and Lisa Quines and her ten beautiful great grandchildren. Also mourning, are her brother, Rodrigo Capiendo in California, USA, and her sister, Ruth (Minda) Palmero (nee Capiendo) of the Philippines. Her siblings, Ruben Capiendo, Remedios (Meding) Capiendo and Resurreccion (Ancing) Rondael (nee Capiendo) predeceased Rosita. Mama, you taught us how to be brave, how to be tough, how to be tenacious, how to be kind and generous, and compassionate and how to reach for happiness. And you taught us how we can reach for the highest star and expect to receive it because that is what you did. You didn’t know the word “no”. When others thought it impossible, you persisted and through your vision and hard work and devotion, you provided us with a better life and limitless possibilities. What an extraordinary accomplishment for a girl who came from such humble beginnings. We love you, mama, we miss you. If desired, Memorial Donations in Rosita’s honor may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society of Canada at www.alzheimer.ca or to Diabetes Canada at www.diabetes.ca
