Comeau, Roger J.
April 3, 1932 – April 9, 2020
Passed away on April 9 at the age of 88 surrounded by family. Born in Meteghan, he was a son of the late Frank and Léa (Deveau) Comeau.
Roger was manager of the Meteghan Liquor Commission for over 25 years, and he and Irene (his wife of 64 years) co-managed the Meteghan Credit Union for 10 years. A devout Catholic, he devoted many years singing in the church choir and was a long-time volunteer at the Villa Acadienne. Roger enjoyed baseball, square dancing, playing cards and gardening but he especially cherished spending time with his family. He also enjoyed camping where following retirement, he and Irene spent most summer weekends at the Fundy Spray campground where they met up with new and old friends over a 30-year period.
Roger was predeceased by son Greg and daughter Janice (Darrell Leeman). He was the last surviving member of his immediate family after the passing of sisters Marie Mae, Pauline, Delima, Agnes, Marguerite and Clarisse; brothers Donald and Lionel. Besides his loving wife Irene (Wilson), he is survived by sons Larry (Kelly), Toronto; Michael, Meteghan; and Paul, Ottawa; six grandchildren Natasha (Richard); Lisanne (Chloe), Jackie (Erika); Jason (Jade); Jill (Jeff) Tamara (Chris) and six great grandchildren Jake, Carly, Darcy; Émy, Andi, and Scarlett, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses, especially the members of the Victorian Order of Nurses, for the kindness and care that they provided to Roger throughout his illness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Meteghan Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at a future date due to COVID-19. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Roger Joseph Comeau April 03 1932 April 09 2020..
