Mary Roseanna Borthwick
1935-2020
The passing of Mary Roseanna (Leavitt) Borthwick, wife of the late
Burton Vance Borthwick of Canal NB occurred at the Fundy Nursing Home,
Blacks Harbour NB on April 10, 2020.
Born in Pocologan NB on April 14, 1935, she was a daughter of the late
Victor and Marie (Oliver) Leavitt. A loving mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother and sister, Mary is survived by her sons: Burton Jr.
(Rosalie) Borthwick and William (Deborah) Borthwick both of Canal NB;
grandchildren: Jonah, Taylor and Tyler; one great-granddaughter:
Harper; siblings: Alice (Keith) Leavitt, Charles (Janet) Leavitt,
Lorna (Hazen) Olsson, Blanche (Alfie) Borthwick, Theresa Hooper,
Redmond Leavitt, Lorne (Joan) Leavitt, Edna Smith and Allan (Ann)
Leavitt; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents
and husband, Mary was predeceased by one sister: Olive Quigley; and
one bother: Clayton Leavitt.
Prior to retirement, Mary mainly worked in the fishing industry,
having been employed at various factories in the local area. A lady
who loved the simple things in life, she loved hunting and fishing,
being with her dog and spending as much time as she could with her
family, especially her grandchildren. Her love and dedication to her
family will be sadly missed.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB. Due to the current guidelines regarding
the Covid-19 pandemic, visiting for Mary will be private. A graveside
service will be held at a later date at the St. George Rural Cemetery,
St. George NB with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating. In lieu of flowers,
donations to the Alzheimer’s Society in Mary’s memory would be greatly
appreciated by the family.
