Richard V Plante

Obituary
80 years, long-time resident of Tecumseh, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on Friday, March 27, 2020. Born on February 15, 1940 in Valleyfield, Québec. Dedicated husband of Helene Plante (nee Sigrist). Loving father to Heidi and Stephanie with family in Ottawa. Caring Opa to Ian. Richard served in the Canadian Army in Québec City from 1960-1963. After that, he adventured to Frobisher Bay (today known as Iqualuit) on Baffin Island because he had to find work wherever he could. Richard’s next move was to southern Ontario, where he was a proud Ford Motor employee for 33 years. Once he retired, he connected with his friends from work every morning at Tim Hortons. Richard was a passionate fan of his favourite hockey team Les Canadiens de Montreal and became a fan of Canadian curling too. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, an avid pool player and will be missed by his friends in Tecumseh. Richard was also very knowledgeable about politics and was always delighted to discuss current affairs. Thanks to his devotion and contribution, the retirement home “La Résidence Richelieu” for francophones was built in Windsor. He was a man who dedicated his life with hard work to improve the life of those around him and will be remembered fondly for his generous acts of kindness. As per Richard’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on a later date at, Windsor Chapel (Banwell Chapel), 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., 519-253-7234. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance Hospital are greatly appreciated.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Richard V Plante..
