Lillian Lakevold 1930 2019

Obituary of Lillian Lakevold
Rose Lillian Eileen Lakevold (nee Holman) was born on March 29, 1930 and passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 28, 2019.
Lillian was born in Primate, Saskatchewan, the 13th of 14 children. After high school, she attended Pittman College in Edmonton. In 1952, she married Harding and they settled on his grandfather’s homestead south of Provost where she was kept busy raising four children. As a member of the Lutheran church, Mom was active in Ladies Aid for many years. Her pride and joy was her flower garden in front of the farmhouse, teeming with hollyhocks, petunias, pansies and sweet peas. She thoroughly enjoyed playing cards and ‘yakking up a storm’ with her brothers until late at night.
In 1979, Lillian and Harding retired to Osoyoos, BC, then relocated to Oliver, BC in 2007. After five years in Oliver, they made their final move to Kelowna. As her health had deteriorated by 2014, their final years were spent in Kelowna’s Sun Pointe Village which allowed them to live in the same complex.
Lillian is lovingly remembered by her children, Sharon (Bob), Tim (Monika) and Tracy (Len); grandchildren, Tiffany, Matthew and Liam; great grandchildren, Shaye and Ari; sister-in-law, Antoinette, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Harding; son, Keith; brothers and sisters; Mike (Annie), Mary (Ludwig), August, Otto, Joseph (Anne), Harry, John (Rose), Kate (Alex), Victor, Pauline (Arnold), Beatrice (Luther), Bob and Ferd (Shirley); and brothers-in-law Osborne (Clara), Luther (Gene) and Milton (Grace).
“We watched that dreadful disease eat through your mind so fast, Our hearts are full of sorrow, but you are free and at peace at last.”
A memorial for immediate family will take place in the chapel at Sun Pointe Village in Kelowna, BC on January 12, 2020.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends later in the spring. Please check back for more details once a date has been confirmed.
