Scott Latimer 2020

Obituary
W Scott Latimer passed away peacefully March 29 at age 87 at Hospice Huntsville Algonquin Grace. Cherished husband of 62 years of Pat. Beloved brother of Mary Lee Latimer of Barrie. Much loved father of Gillian (Ron Hall), Andy (Charmaine) and Bruce (Trudy). Incredibly proud grandfather of Isaac (Kelly) and Alex (Lisa and children Mikayla and Andrew) Hall and great grandfather to Ruth, his little ray of sunshine.
Scott graduated from RMC and earned his Engineering degree from Queen’s University in Kingston, he then worked as an engineer in industry before teaching Chemistry and Physics at Oakville Trafalgar High School. Scott loved teaching and has left a legacy with all of the students’ lives he touched in over 25 years of teaching. However, his greatest legacy is his love for his children and grandchildren and the sense of responsibility and pride in the work they do that he has inspired in all of them.
Scott’s passions were playing golf and bridge and his greatest joy was time spent with his family. Scott was happy planning, constructing and building. He built his dream log home for he and Pat in 1979 and his family has spent many happy times enjoying the beauty of the Lake of Bays and the fun family times. The “Birthday Olympics” will not be the same without our master of ceremony and official score keeper.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. In his memory please consider a gift to Hospice Huntsville or a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

  1. Dear Pat, Gillian and all of your family. We were so sorry to hear this sad news. We have many fond memories of times spent with Scott and you. He was a wonderful man. Our deepest sympathy. Kathy and Tim Raleigh

  2. My deepest condolences for your loss.
Scott’s knowledge, demeanour, sense of humour, and care for his students and staff served as a model that all the rest of OT’s staff could aspire to. When Scott talked we listened whether in the class, the PAS office or anywhere else.
Scott was a great teacher and, more importantly, a great man. I’m sure that the whole OT community is deeply affected by his loss.
