Dr. Rollie’s Obituary
Dr. Rollie Langille, BSc, MD, FRCS, Tatamagouche, born September 9, 1935, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2020, with his wife by his side, after battling Vascular Parkinsons disease. He was a son of the late Dr. James and Marjorie (Blair) Langille. His childhood encompassed wartime schooling in Oxford, England, after World War II for five years. He completed high school in Amherst as class president. He subsequently enrolled at Dalhousie University and while there joined Phi Kappa Pi and Phi Rho Sigma fraternities. Rollie received a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to attain his MD in 1963 as medical class president; he has maintained close contact with his classmates. He then entered the study of Neurosurgery receiving his Fellowship in Neurosurgery in 1969. He subsequently was awarded a McLaughlin Travelling Fellowship which upgraded his neurosurgical techniques acquired from ten advanced centres from Stockholm to San Francisco. Rollie had a fine smiling countenance and a great sense of humour. His hobbies included his yearly vegetable garden, his personal family genealogy, but most of all his time spent at his camp hunting and fishing. Rollie and Judy retired to River John in 1997. He was active in community affairs including Vice Chair of North Shore Health Services Foundation and Co-Chair of Lillian Fraser Memorial Building Fund. He subsequently became chairman of Lockerby Memorial Cemetery Association. He is survived by his loving wife, the former Judy Egan; sister, Jill White; daughters, Donna (Neil), Lori (Werner); sons, James (Arlene) and Roland Timothy (Jen); granddaughters, Katie and Ceilidh; grandsons, Derek, Jacob and Max. He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Hal. Cremation has taken place in the care of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche (902-657-3288). Funeral service will be announced at a later date, followed by internment in Lockerby Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Lockerby Cemetery Foundation.

  1. Judy my thoughts are with you and family. Many of us in Neuro.nrsg have had the pleasure of working with Rollie and his disappearance acts.Pacifying the patient
    then of course who would always come waltzing in but ” the great Man himself, had
    the patient would be like putty in his hands!!! Rollie was a gentleman, treated the
    staff on 2A wonderfully, down to earth and a great teacher as well for which I was
    most grateful.Liked to share a good joke every now and then.
