Obituary
On Sunday March 22, 2020 Kim Barton passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born December 27, 1964 she was the only child of Raymond E. Barton of Saint John and the late Joan A. Nice (Barton). Kim worked in Food Services at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. She was a softball coach in Fredericton for 11 years and coach to the Tomboys Softball Team. Kim was a volunteer at ABC Canine Day Care and was a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Kim is survived by her father Raymond; chosen son Robert Graves (Natalie) of Halifax; grandsons Connor, Preston and Parker; former spouse and friend Myrna Graves (Becky Powers) of Saint John; aunt Phyllis Hebert of Saint John; aunt Barb of Montreal and Aunt Shirley Buckley of Saint John ; uncle Randy Nice of Florida; uncle Jimmy Barton of Ottawa, ON and uncle Kenny Barton of Saint John; canine companions Sophie and Luke; cousins and friends. Kim was predeceased by her mother Joan Nice, aunts Diana Nice and Beryl Hamilton; uncle Terry and her canine companion Tex.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) A private family visitation will be held. Celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Interment then to be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in Kim’s memory can be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada , Canadian Cancer Society or to the SPCA.
