Marshall’s Obituary
STELLARTON – Marshall David Hartling, 72, Stellarton, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Roy Angus and Eva Margaret (Hartlin) Hartling. Prior to retirement, Marshall was employed with the Halifax Dockyards as a marine painter. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and working on all types of motor vehicle. In his “glory days”, Marshall was often seen clad in a leather jacket, “flying” down the roads on his motorcycle. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 28, Stellarton, where he “loved” to socialize. Marshall will be remembered for his magnetic personality, love of others and generosity.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Susan Wendy (Stevens); daughter, Elizabeth A. Hartling, Stellarton; son, Steven (Crystal) Hartling, Halifax; grandchildren, Cole, Athena, Daya, Gyland, Runik and Nirian; sisters, Verna Gillis, Halifax; Ruby Billard, Halifax; brother, James (Ruth) Hartling, Bedford; Wade Hartling, Ontario; nieces, Crystal, Juanita, Melody, Shelley and Allison; nephews, Russell and Jamie; many cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by son, Roger David Hartling; granddaughter, Liberty; brothers-in-law, Louis and George.
A Celebration of Marshall’s life will be held at a time and date to be announced.
Interment will be in Wine Harbour Cemetery at a later date.
If desired, donations may be made in memory to Marshall to his family.
