Obituary for
Jock David Jardine
Jock David Jardine
April 16, 1944 – March 16, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Jock David Jardine, on Monday, March 16, 2020 at the age of 75 at the Ottawa General Hospital.
Jock was born on April 16, 1944 in Chatham, New Brunswick to Jean (Irvine) and Frederick Jardine. On September 7, 1963, he married Barbara Jean McElman and they raised two children, Susan and David. Barb and Jock were devoted to one another and were married for 56 years. Jock received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick in 1968, and was the Commissioner of Human Resources for the City of Gloucester from 1980 to 1996 before his well-earned retirement.
Jock had a passion for photography, travel and his cottage in New Brunswick. Barb and Jock travelled the world from Europe, to Asia and the south Pacific, and Jock had the slides to prove it! Papa will be missed for his wise advice, “If a job’s worth doing, it’s a job worth doing right”, his dry sense of humour, and his devotion to his grandkids.
Jock was preceded in death by his father, Frederick, his mother, Jean, and his brother Frederick (Rose). He is survived by his wife Barbara, his two children, David (Kari), Susan (David) and three grandchildren, Jessica, Sara and Douglass Jock (DJ). A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2020 at Indian Rock, Rexton, New Brunswick.
Special thanks to the doctors and staff in the Oncology and Palliative Care wards at the Ottawa General Hospital.
