May 20, 1945 – February 28, 2020
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing
of Les, our beloved husband, father and grandfather in Harlingen, Texas at the
age of 74. He will be sadly missed by his wife Sandra of 52 years, his
children; Daryl (Paula) Kennedy and Malone, Cory (Angie) Zander, Evan and
Hayden, Aaron (Lisa) Dylan and Adam, Elana (Harvey) Emily and Avery.
Les was born in Dauphin and raised on the
family farm. He graduated from Winnipegosis Collegiate and moved to Winnipeg
where he attended Red River College and graduated with a degree in Business
Administration. After briefly working as an accountant for the Federal
Government, he earned his CMA designation and joined the Province of Manitoba,
working many years as the Assistant Deputy Minister of Agriculture. Les retired
in 2000 and enjoyed the outdoor lifestyle at the family cottage on Pinawa Bay
in Lac du Bonnet. In 2009, Les and Sandra moved out to the lake full time. Les
found great pleasure barbecuing and boating with his family and friends. He
took great pride tending to his perfect lawn, moving his sprinklers, and
playing with his many woodpiles to make sure the wood stove fire was always
burning. Les and Sandy enjoyed traveling, wintering in Texas and Florida, and
the occasional casino visit.
We miss you deeply and you will forever be
in our hearts and thoughts.
Les
was cremated in Texas after a final farewell from his wife and children.
A funeral mass and celebration of his life will be held Saturday, March 14th at 11:00 am
at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Pinawa, MB.
Donations can be made in Les’s memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or STARS Air Ambulance.
