Obituary
The family of Ronald G. ‘Ron’ Bertrand, husband of June Jamieson Bertrand, sadly announce his passing which occurred on January 2, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Montreal he was the son of the late Patrick G. And Marjorie (Ireland) Bertrand.
Ron worked with Bombardier (Canada Air) with their Aircraft Division. Upon his retirement he made his home in Gardner Creek where he enjoyed his bird houses and feeding the birds. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, enjoyed reading, and was an antique collector. He enjoyed travelling the Maritimes in his VW Camper, camping at Sandy Sun Camp-Ground in Quebec and his trips to Cuba. Above all else his family was most important to him.
Besides his wife, June, he is survived by his sons; Daniel McNeil (Patricia) and Stephen Whitney (Violet); his daughter Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Whitney (Donald); his sisters; Patricia Bertrand and Patricia Slocum; brother-in-law Stuart Jamieson (Martha) his six grandchildren, Michael Parks, Brandon Parks, Meghan Whitney, Peter Whitney, Kate Whitney, and Jameson McNeil; and his nephews Troy Slocum and Will Toth.
He was predeceased by his sister Carolyn Ann Symonds.
Following cremation the family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), from 6:00 until 8:00 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020. Remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
