Ruth’s Obituary
WHITE, Ruth Helene – age 60 of Wedgeport, Yarmouth.Co., passed away in Yarmouth Regional Hospital with her husband James White of 40 years by her side. After having moved away to New Brunswick, then Ontario for a few years, Ruth, Jim and their four children settled in her hometown of Wedgeport. Ruth was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. She was welcoming and accepting of everyone. A second mom to many black sheep. The teapot was always on for friends and family. She never passed-up an opportunity to help somebody, both by doing and teaching. She was a stay at home mom and wife who did odd jobs, and babysat many children over the years, a “Mother Hen” to them all and to her family. Ruth loved to cook and create. The cookies she baked, rarely stayed in the cookie jar for long. Her rappie pie and mustard pickles were local favourites. A “Jack-of-all-trades”, Ruth could sew, make, build or grow anything. The more challenging, the better. She spent countless days with her sister Christine and their kids over the years, making anything from crafts, furniture, pickled goods, baked goods (including many unique birthday cakes and her custom cards) and so on. Although Ruth went “all out” for every holiday, Halloween was the family favourite. The costumes she designed, always won first prize. Playing Bingo and cards, was a social time to spend with her brothers, sisters and friends. She’d say the money was always good too! She was very close to her mother, Geraldine (predeceased), and not a day went by that they did not talk on the phone. Just as she did not miss a day talking to her kids. Although battling cancer, Ruth did not lose hope throughout her challenging journey, nor did she ever complain. She was still laughing and crafting until the end, exactly true to character. Ruth is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Geraldine Corporon; father and mother in law, Eugene and Elizabeth White; sister-in-law Elizabeth “Beth” White and brother-in-law, John White She is survived by her husband, James White; four children, Melissa White (grandson Corbin), Alison White (Ben Easton), Andrew White (Renee Gaudet) and Ashley White (Aidan Blanchard); eight brothers and sisters, Leigh Corporon, Eugene Corporon (Phyllis Kendall), Stephen Corporon (Louise Leblanc), Allan Corporon, Christine Corporon, Bernard Corporon (wife Sharon), Rhonda Jacquard (Eugene Doucette) and Conrad Corporon (wife Kim); many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be a “Celebration of Life” only, as requested, at the Royal Canadian Legion in Wedgeport, on Saturday March 14, 2020 from 1 – 5 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2 p.m. – all are welcome.
