Brow: Elizabeth Jane “Betty” passed away peacefully at the young age of 97 years in the St. Vincent’s Nursing home in Halifax. Betty was born June 25, 1922 in Stanhope NFLD, to the Late: Henry and Bertha (Bennett) Day.
She stayed in NFLD until she met the love of her life Tony Brow. They were a military family and travelled extensively throughout Europe and Canada. In her earlier years , Betty enjoyed running
Numbers as a Bookie and continued her love of gambling throughout her life. Betty also loved to knit and crochet for her grandchildren and was notorious for putting together Jigsaw puzzles and doing daily crypto quotes in the newspaper, She was full of life and willing to take on anyone in Wii bowling.
Betty is survived by her four children Sherry Denton , Florida, Harry, Dartmouth, Sandra Carpenter (Paul) Havre Boucher and Arthur (Erika) St. John N.B. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews and her 98 year old sister in-law Agnes Fougere. Betty was predecaesed by siblings and her husband Tony who has been patiently waiting for 15 years for her to join him.
Betty will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her. Betty’s family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Vincent’s Nursing Home for their compassionate care she received during her short stay there. Prior to her stay there she was living at Gladstone-Berkley where it became her second home, Words cannot express how grateful her family is for the friends she made and the kindness of the staff members.
There no vision by request ,Cremation has taken place, there will be a Celebration of Life Mass on Tuesday March 10 2020 at 11 am in St. Pauls Roman Catholic Church, Havre Boucher with Father Allan MacPhie officiating . Burial with take place at a later in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
