Sampson, Valerie Mary – Tatamagouche. Valerie passed away peacefully on February 29, 2020 at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born, June 14, 1937, she was pre-deceased by her parents, Stanley Pearcy and Norma (Swinburn) (Pearcy) Cairns-Smith of West Kilbride, Ayrshire. Valerie is survived by her husband, Edward Sampson, Tatamagouche, daughter, Corinne (Brian MacIsaac), Stellarton; granddaughter, Gracie Mae MacIsaac, Stellarton; son, James (Claire Webber), Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent G.B.: sister, Jill Breckinridge, Troon, Ayrshire, Scotland. Valerie also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews in Scotland, England and throughout Canada. Valerie was a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art. After many years together in Scotland, Edward and Valerie returned to Canada in 1980 with their children. Always active in the community, Valerie’s main interests were poetry, painting and choral music. She was a long-time member of the Tatamagouche Area Singers. In addition, Valerie was an avid skier, tennis player, curler and golfer. When asked where she lived, Valerie always responded, “Tatamagouche and I love it!” She always added, “But I am from Ayrshire, Scotland.” Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer in Tatamagouche. Our family would like to thank Dr. Daniel MacDonald and the entire staff of the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital for the care they provided Valerie.
