Joan Hendry
February 4 1933 – February 26 2020
Peacefully, and surrounded by her loved ones, a beautiful mom, Nana and Great Nana passed away on February 26th, 2020, at the age of 87. She was a loving mom to Paul (Christine), Debbie and Monique and has now reunited with her dear son Scot. Proud Nana to Cory (Sasha), Jessica (Dave), Dylan, Cheyanne and Michaela and Great Nana to her 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother David (Val) of Chard, Somerset, England.
Born in Wales, UK, Mom made her life and her home in Canada. Her proud moment was when she graduated nursing school and started her career as an RNA at Central Park Lodge which lasted many years, and yielded many close friendships with people that she considered family.
Known for her kind spirit, our mom could chat with anyone, recently moving to Richmond Lodge she easily settled in and made many friends. She always wore her pink lipstick, showing the love to her kids and grandkids by leaving her mark all over their cheeks.
We would like to extend our thanks to the ICU team at the Ottawa Hospital, and especially her nurse, Heather for her kind care.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday March 7th 2020 at 2:00 pm at Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated.
