Beryl Beverley Bev Biefer Beatteay 1929 2020

Obituary for
Beryl Beverley “Bev” Biefer (Beatteay)
Peacefully, on Wednesday Feb. 26th, in her 91st year and after a gallant fight against dementia. Beloved wife of the late Gregory James Biefer. Loving mother of Kay and Martin (Laura Kerr). Beloved grandma of Kristin Biefer (Chris Miller), and cherished sister of Elizabeth Beatteay of Saint John, New Brunswick. Life-long friend of Rennie Chernoff of Maryland, USA. She will be missed by Martin’s stepson, Jay Lewin and his daughter Olivia-Rose.
Beryl, also known as Bev, was raised in Saint John, and was in the chorus and drama society at Saint John High. She has degrees from both Dalhousie and McGill, where she met Greg. They lived in Virginia, USA and Deep River, Ontario before settling in Ottawa in 1960. Mom was an active member of the University Women’s Club and a 50-year member of the Madrigals singing group. She was a lover of books, of knowledge, of the arts and culture. Genealogy was also a passion.
At mom’s request, there will be no funeral, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Saint John. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Acute Care of the Elderly Unit of the Queensway Carleton Hospital would be appreciated by the family, who also want to thank the staff of the Barrhaven Manor for the wonderful care mom received there.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Beryl Beverley Bev
