BALL – Florence “Effie”, 93, formerly of Caledonia, Queens County passed away peacefully in Hillside Pines, Bridgewater, NS on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Born in Hunter’s Lodge, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late J. Frederick “Fred” and Ida (Goucher) Acker.
In her younger years, Effie worked in various country stores as well as the former Dominion Store in Liverpool as a clerk and head cashier. She enjoyed knitting, quilting and sewing. She was a former member of the UCW. Effie was a “farm girl” at heart enjoying the outdoors, gardening and working with the horses bringing in wood.
Effie is survived by her son James Lloyd of Port -Aux-Choix, NL; grandchildren Josh and Ryan and a number of great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert, sisters Kathleen, Margaret and Olive, brothers Dennis, Ellot and Mervyn.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2020 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool, NS and funeral service will be Monday, March 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Chapel, Liverpool, NS. Reverend Carol Smith officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Hibernia Road, Caledonia. Family flowers only, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
