Obituary of Elric Fries
Elric passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side at Lee Manor Nursing Home in Owen Sound, on Sunday, February 23, 2020. Born in Owen Sound on February 13, 1924, Elric Leonard Fries, was in his 97th year.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Nettie (née Franklin) Fries (2013). Son of the late Edgar and Lottie (née Hepburn) Fries. Loving father of Laurie Fries and his wife Janice of Annan, Susan Casemore and her husband Bryan of Owen Sound, and Marsha Sparnaay and her husband Raymond of Windsor. Proud Grandpa of six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Elric drove school and city buses for over 34 years in the Owen Sound area. After retirement Nettie and Elric travelled coast to coast with their trailer and met many wonderful people. Elric was a kind and gentle soul who volunteered at the hospital, drove for meals on wheels and for 66 years was a member of First United Church.
Thank you to Lee Manor for their care and compassion and for making his final years feel like home.
A private family graveside service will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Georgian Bluffs, later in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted to BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492).
